Mar A Mar is a preconstruction development to be built at the top of the mountain near Villa Caletas (best sunset views in the area for those who haven't heard about it, and an amazing 4--star restaurant).

What makes this particular development impressive is the preparation that has gone into the planning, and the amenities that will be available on-site.

It will be in the form of two towers, each 17 stories high and housing 4 units for a total of 64 apartments/condos.

The building lot itself is wide and flat, with easy access to the Costanera highway (34) and 360 degree views. Located between Jaco and Tarcoles, it is about an hour from San Jose and 10 minutes from Jaco. What makes this development extraordinary is that this placement, on the top of the mountain, means that all floors will have access to incredible views and the designers are taking full advantage of that fact by providing multiple ocean-facing balconies on each unit.


As the development is in the preconstruction phase, the prices are at their lowest, with a jump expected once they sell 1/3 of the first tower. Preconstruction also means buyers can spread the cost of their purchase out over 4 equal payments of 25% which coincide with certain milestones in construction. Reserving a unit requires a $2000 deposit (which is 100% refundable if cancelled within the first 30 days).

So what makes these units so special? Honestly, it's the combination of price for amenities. You really get great bang for your buck, especially when an affordable oceanview is so hard to find.

  • modern design, clean lines and neutral colours blend to create a very stylish and easy-care living space

If you break it down into a price per sq. meter, you are looking at $2.56/sq. m, which is completely reasonable for the market. While the prices increase the higher up the tower you go, they start around $240 and max out at around $500. However, since even the lower floors have an oceanview, it's a great option for those who yearn for a view but are working with a smaller budget.
